What is good design?

That’s a tricky question. One thing that is easy to recognize is bad design. There is a lot of it out there. Hundreds of companies in each industry are paying huge dollars to advertise all over the place but sometimes leave their design to the advertisers themselves. These advertisers often are not familiar with your company or the message that you want to convey. PDXdesigns understands that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so we don’t try and force our clients into a design or activity that they don’t feel comfortable with. We try to give our professional advice and give examples of good design and the positive impact it can have on your marketing efforts. Good design and attractive, well thought-out presentation can make all the difference as you try to stand out from the crowd of others. With all of this being said, good design is only a small piece of marketing.....getting that piece in front of your potential customer is the most important part of a successful marketing campaign. Make sure that the quality of you designs equally match the quality of your business or products.

Graphic Design vs. Web Design

Whew, this is the hard concept to understand especially in the marketing world. Graphic design and web design are often considered one and the same. We would, politely, like to disagree with that. Graphic design has been around for as long as the written word and will be around in one fashion or another for a long time. Graphic design relates to the creative ability to make images that conveys a message or gives understanding though visual means. At least that’s a good way to look at it for these purposes. Web design relates more directly to the art of putting these graphic, descriptive images onto the internet so more people can have access to them and information they offer. Now, I am sure there are a bunch of really upset web designers that willing to debate this. I, in no way mean, to belittle or demean the work that we do as web designers, but simply, there are two parts to creating a web presence and the web designers should be recognized for both!

The Spectrum

This is just a quick note about the spectrum of graphic is WIDE OPEN! Make sure you are hiring a company or an individual that is knowledgeable in the specific area that you are interested in marketing to.
